Segregation Device Design and Method Approvals - Tasmania

Description

You will need an approval if you intend to:

  • design a type II segregation device
  • use a non-compliant method of segregation.

Segregation involves separating dangerous goods from incompatible substances. This minimises the risk of contamination and or dangerous reactions if they came into contact.

Eligibility requirements

To be eligible for a type II segregation device approval, your design must be compliant with chapter 6.11 of the ADG code.

To be eligible for a method of segregation approval:

  • it must be impractical to use a segregation device or compliant method
  • the risk of using the method to transport the goods by road is not greater than the risk by using a device or compliant method.
