You will need a special employee licence if you are an employee of a gaming establishment and intend to:
- work in a casino and are involved in table games, cash desk, table drop boxes, surveillance operations or work associated with chips
- work for a keno operator or monitoring operator and administer games of keno or undertake keno monitoring functions
- work for the wagering operator (Tabcorp) and administer a gaming activity, develop gaming activity policy, operate wagering systems or manage fraud and integrity functions.
You will need a technician licence if you intend to install, maintain or repair gaming equipment, or undertake software / hardware development.
An employee of a gaming establishment can conduct the following activities without a special employee or technician licence:
- selling keno tickets
- undertaking gaming machine payouts
- making minor adjustments to gaming machines
- undertaking some security functions in casinos.
