Special Employee or Technician Licence - Gaming - Tasmania

Description

You will need a special employee licence if you are an employee of a gaming establishment and intend to:

  • work in a casino and are involved in table games, cash desk, table drop boxes, surveillance operations or work associated with chips
  • work for a keno operator or monitoring operator and administer games of keno or undertake keno monitoring functions
  • work for the wagering operator (Tabcorp) and administer a gaming activity, develop gaming activity policy, operate wagering systems or manage fraud and integrity functions.

You will need a technician licence if you intend to install, maintain or repair gaming equipment, or undertake software / hardware development.

An employee of a gaming establishment can conduct the following activities without a special employee or technician licence:

  • selling keno tickets
  • undertaking gaming machine payouts
  • making minor adjustments to gaming machines
  • undertaking some security functions in casinos.
