Temporary Taxi Licence - Tasmania

Description

You will need this licence if you intend to provide taxi services for a limited time period. This licence has the same effect as an owner-operator taxi licence, except a temporary taxi licence is limited to the period it is in force, and is not transferable.

Eligibility requirements

To be eligible for this licence you must:

  • be accredited to operate a taxi service
  • ensure that the vehicle proposed to be used is suitable for use as a taxi.

The proposed vehicle must:

  • be a currently registered small passenger vehicle (a vehicle with a capacity of 12 seats or fewer including the driver)
  • be approved for use as a taxi and under current inspection
  • have Class 6 MAIB premium.

Your completed application form should be provided directly to the Agency. You will be advised in writing whether your application is successful. The appropriate fees should then be paid at any Service Tasmania outlet in order to finalise the application.
