Smoking Product Licence - Tasmania

You will require this licence if you intend to sell smoking products in Tasmania. Smoking products include:

  • cigars or cigarettes
  • any product that has tobacco as an ingredient or any device intended to be used with tobacco
  • personal vaporisers (including electronic cigarettes, or e-cigarettes).

Electronic cigarettes are battery operated products that replicate smoking behaviour without the use of tobacco. E-cigarettes heat a replaceable cartridge that may or may not contain liquid nicotine and other chemicals. The heating process creates a mist that resembles tobacco smoke which is inhaled by the user.

If you intend to sell smoking products at more than one location, you will need to complete a separate application and pay the fee for each premises.

Please consult the Contact Officer for more information.
