You will need this licence if you intend to sell smoking products in Tasmania. Smoking products include:
- cigars or cigarettes
- any product that has tobacco as an ingredient or any device intended to be used with tobacco
- personal vaporisers (including electronic cigarettes, or e-cigarettes).
Electronic cigarettes are battery operated products that replicate smoking behaviour without the use of tobacco. E-cigarettes heat a replaceable cartridge that may or may not contain liquid nicotine and other chemicals. The heating process creates a mist that resembles tobacco smoke that is inhaled by the user.
E-cigarettes may only be sold in Tasmania if the cartridge does not contain nicotine.
E-cigarettes may not be sold to children.
