You will need this permit if you own or operate a heavy vehicle and intend to seek an exemption from compliance with a heavy vehicle standard. A heavy vehicle is a vehicle with a gross vehicle mass (GVM) or an aggregate trailer mass (ATM) of more than 4.5 tonnes.
Please ensure you read the attached NHVR Code of Practice for the Approval of Heavy Vehicle Modifications to check if the exemption you are requesting is included as a modification in the Code.
Exemption permits may apply to one or more heavy vehicles.
