Work Diary Exemption Permit - TAS - Australian Business Licence and Information Service

Description

You will need this permit if you are the driver of a fatigue-regulated heavy vehicle and you are unable to fill out a work diary due to a reading, writing, or numeracy impairment.

A fatigue-regulated heavy vehicle is a:

motor vehicle with a gross vehicle mass (GVM) of more than 12 tonnes
combination with a GVM of more than 12 tonnes
bus that is fitted to carry more than 12 people including the driver

This exemption allows you to nominate an alternate method to record work and rest details to then be transcribed into a work diary by a nominated person.

Eligibility requirements

To be eligible for this permit you must:

state the period for which the exemption is sought
include a letter from a competent person explaining the reason for granting the exemption.

A competent person can be a:

psychologist
speech pathologist
doctor who has known the driver for more than two years
literacy, language and numeracy practitioner
person who is qualified to assess the driver's English literacy.
