Accident Tow Truck Trainee Permit - Victoria


You will require this permit if you intend to act as a trainee accident tow truck driver. This permit allows trainee drivers to gain on the job experience before they obtain Accident Tow Truck Driver Accreditation.

A trainee driver needs to be sponsored by an accredited Operator or Depot Manager, and must be supervised by an accredited Tow Truck Driver when in a licensed accident tow truck or attending accident scenes. As a trainee, you will have the opportunity to develop the minimum technical competencies necessary to perform the duties required of an accredited tow truck driver.

Eligibility requirements

To be eligible for this permit you must:

  • hold a current full Victorian Driver's Licence
  • complete a National Police Record Check
  • provide two passport size colour photos of yourself
  • be sponsored by an accredited Operator or Depot Manager
  • be of good character, health and technical ability
  • pay any required fees.

Ongoing eligibility requirements

Trainees must maintain compliance with industry standards, requirements for record keeping, and the use of standard documents.
