Accreditation as a Taxi-Cab Operator - Victoria

Description

You will require this accreditation if you intend to operate as a taxi-cab operator. An operator, also known as a permit holder, is a person or corporation that operates one or more licensed taxi-cabs. Some operators own the licence, while others have been assigned the rights by the licence holder.

Taxi-cab operators are a part of a taxi-cab network if they are affiliated with a service that receives and dispatches bookings. A taxi-cab operator is not a part of a taxi-cab network if they receive the bookings directly.

A licence defines the need to obtain recognition / certification and registration to undertake a certain business activity.

Eligibility requirements

To be eligible for this accreditation you must:

  • have a full Victorian driver licence
  • submit the required form
  • submit an informed consent form
  • provide appropriate levels of identification
  • provide any other information required by the agency
  • pay any required fees.

Unincorporated bodies or associations will not be granted this accreditation.

Ongoing eligibility requirements

Accredited operators are subject to a number of ongoing requirements, including the following:

  • keep accurate records as required by the regulations
  • cooperate with the agency's investigation and audit activities
  • have the financial capacity to meet all costs and financial obligations
  • ensure your drivers have sufficient good health and fitness
  • ensure any drivers operating wheelchair accessible taxi cabs have completed the training required by the agency
  • provide drivers with training required by the agency
  • ensure your vehicles are clean and in fit and serviceable condition
  • follow a complaints handling process that complies with the regulations.

Duration

Accreditation remains in force until it is cancelled or surrendered.
