You will require this accreditation if you intend to operate a business that can issue Plant Health Assurance Certificates (PHAC). A PHAC is taken as evidence of compliance with quarantine requirements for interstate and intrastate trade.
A PHAC is required for:
- plants and plant products
- used agricultural equipment
- used packaging
It will be required for the above items if they are grown, produced, packed, treated or tested in Victoria, as well as if any of the above listed items are to be imported, introduced or brought into Victoria.
The Interstate Certification Assurance (ICA) scheme is a national scheme which enables your business to be accredited by a plant quarantine authority to issue PHAC's for your produce. Once your business is accredited, you also assume responsibility for specified treatments, inspections or other processes.
