Approval of Architecture Partnership or Company - Victoria

Description

You will need this approval to form a partnership or company that provides building design services or architectural services leading to the design of buildings. Only an approved partnership or company may lawfully use the title 'architect', and the terms 'architectural design', 'architectural services' or 'architectural design services' in relation to their work. This does not apply to the use of the terms 'landscape architect', 'naval architect' or 'computer systems architect'.

An application for approval of a partnership must be made jointly by all the members of a partnership.

Eligibility requirements

To be eligible for partnership approval, you must:

  • ensure one member is a practising architect covered by the required insurance
  • complete the online application form
  • complete and provide a statutory declaration and partner information form
  • pay the prescribed fee.

To be eligible for company approval you must:

  • ensure one member is a practising architect covered by the required insurance
  • complete the online application form
  • complete and provide a statutory declaration and director information form
  • pay the prescribed fee.

Ongoing eligibility requirements

To maintain approval you must continue to have at least one director or partner in the practising class of registration, that is covered by the required insurance and pay the prescribed annual fees.

Expiry

The registration period is per financial year. Each registration will be from the time registration is granted until 30 June of the same financial year.

To apply for this approval, go to the ARBV website portal to complete an application form. Before you begin the application you should ensure you have prepared the following supporting documents to be submitted with the application:

  • evidence of professional indemnity insurance
  • statutory declaration
  • a director / partner information form
  • a copy of your company constitution (only applicable to companies).

Approval time

Applications will take 4 - 6 weeks to be processed.
