Electricity safety management schemes are a form of regulation that enables the industry to improve efficiency of its operation without compromising safety.

An electricity safety management scheme is a scheme that can be offered to the electricity industry as an alternative to complying with the relevant regulations. You must be able to demonstrate that your scheme meets or is better than the safety outcomes and objectives.

There are two types of electricity safety management schemes:

  • Employer Operator Schemes where the operator is an employer of electrical workers
  • Network Operator Schemes where the operator is a network operator (for example, an electricity generator or distributor).
