You will be required to comply with the relevant standard if you manufacture seatbelts for a motor vehicle.
The seatbelt must comply with the standard as it was in force at the time of manufacture, or any later version of that standard. The seatbelt must also be marked in accordance with the standard, certifying its compliance. A relevant standard is any of the following:
- Australian Standard AS E35.1-1970 Seat Belt Assemblies for Motor Vehicles
- Australian Standard AS 2596:2003 Seat Belt Assemblies for Motor Vehicles (Code of Practice Superseded)
- Vehicle Standard (Australian Design Rule 4/00 - Seatbelts) 2006.
