Aquaculture Licence - Victoria

Description

You will need this licence if you intend to process and preserve seafood so that it is safe to sell or sell seafood you have harvested from a vessel at the point of unloading.

There are three types of licences:  

  • abalone licence
  • blue mussels and other shellfish licence
  • fin fish licence.

The seafood species you grow and harvest determines which licence you need.

You need to pay:

  • an application fee (paid once only)
  • a licence fee (paid when you first apply and then every year in June).

The amount you pay when you apply depends upon:

  • the amount and type of seafood you want to grow and harvest
  • the time left until the licence is renewed in June (pro rata).
