Please note that this standard has been updated and you will need to meet the requirements set out in AS 2885.3:2022 Pipelines - Gas and Liquid Petroleum Operation and Maintenance.
You will be required to comply with this standard if you intend to operate or maintain a pipeline. This applies to any pipelines used to carry:
- petroleum
- oxygen
- carbon dioxide
- hydrogen
- nitrogen
- compressed air
- sulphuric acid
- methanol.
Before commencing construction, you must have a Safety Management Plan. The Plan must contain a Safety and Operating Plan prepared in accordance with this Standard.
It specifies minimum requirements for the operation and maintenance of pipelines designed to AS 2885.1. It also applies to pipelines designed and built under those Standards superseded by this Standard, when they are modified to operate under the conditions within the scope of this Standard.
