You will require this certificate at the final stage of building work for minor structural alterations that do not have the effect of changing the character or use of the building, such as carports, fences or signs.
The need for a Certificate of Final Inspection will be indicated on your Building Permit - if an Occupancy Permit is required under your Building Permit you will not need this certificate.
However, if you do not need an Occupancy Permit then this Certificate is required to certify compliance with part 4 of the Building Act 1993. It can be obtained from your building surveyor.
Please consult with your building surveyor for further details specific to your building process.
