You need to be registered to practise as a Chinese medicine practitioner. Registered Chinese medicine practitioners provide Chinese medicine (such as acupuncture) and, depending on their qualifications and experience, may use the protected titles:
- Chinese medicine practitioner
- Chinese herbal dispenser
- Chinese herbal medicine practitioner
- oriental medicine practitioner
- acupuncturist.
Chinese medicine practitioner registration is divided into three divisions:
- Chinese herbal dispensing
- Chinese herbal medicine
- acupuncture.
You must make an additional application and pay additional fees to register for more than one division.
There are four different types of registration offered to practitioners:
- general
- limited
- non-practising
- student.
