Compliance Code: Managing Asbestos in Workplaces - Victoria

Description

You will require this code if you manage or control a workplace where there is a risk that employees will be exposed to asbestos. Examples include:

  • workplaces where asbestos is present in a building, structure, ship or equipment
  • demolition works on a building, structure, ship or plant where asbestos is fixed or installed
  • workplaces where activities involving asbestos-containing material (ACM) are carried out.

The code sets out practical ways that you can identify asbestos in your workplace and implement safety procedures to reduce risk to the health of your employees, and meet your occupational health and safety obligations. This code of practice is a Compliance Code. Compliance Codes are made to provide practical guidance to persons who have occupational health and safety duties or obligations.
