Code of Practice for Debarking of Dogs - Victoria

Description

This Code outlines responsibilities, requirements and permitted circumstances for the debarking of dogs. Debarking is a surgical operation performed by a registered veterinarian to reduce the noise of a dog's bark.

It should be read in conjunction with Clause 9(l) of the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act which prohibits debarking of dogs except in extreme circumstances and by and on the advice of a registered veterinary practitioner.
