You are required to comply with this code if you intend to work to install, construct, maintain or operate infrastructure within a road reserve.
The main purpose of this code of practice is to provide guidance to road authorities, infrastructure managers and works managers. This code specifies practical guidelines for the manner in which works on roads should be carried out, processes for consultation, processes to provide notifications, and the interchange and storage of information regarding road and non-road infrastructure in road reserves.
Compliance with this code of practice may be used in court as evidence as to whether a road authority, infrastructure manager or works manager has met their legislative duties. This includes a decision by a road authority to give or withhold consent.
