Description

You will be required to comply with this code if you intend to own and handle emus. The code outlines the basic requirements for the welfare and husbandry of emus that have been bred or reared in captivity. It provides guidance for managers and others on minimum standards and a range of requirements. These requirements include:

  • food and water
  • shelter and accommodation
  • management practices
  • health and well-being
  • equipment
  • protection from hazards.
