You will be required to comply with this code if you keep cats for personal companionship or if you operate a domestic animal business such as a pound or breeding or boarding facility for commercial breeding, display, bartering, exchange or sale.

The code outlines the minimum standards of accommodation, management and care appropriate to the physical and behavioural requirements of cats. It aims to promote better cat welfare by providing education and minimum standards for cat owners.
