Code of Practice for the Welfare of Film Animals - Victoria

Description

You will be required to comply with this code if you use animals in a film or on television. The code outlines the basic requirements for persons responsible for the welfare of animals used in the production of films for cinemas, television, recreational or educational purposes, including features, documentaries, serials, videos and advertising commercials.

This code also provides guidance for managers and others on minimum standards and a range of requirements for food and water, shelters and accommodation, management practices, health and well-being, equipment, transportation, handling, etc.

Compliance with this code of practice is not mandatory. However, by complying with this code of practice you may be able to demonstrate that you have met your legal responsibilities. It may be a defence to a charge of animal cruelty that you have complied with this code of practice.
