Code of Practice for the Welfare of Pigs - Victoria


You are required to comply with these standards if you are responsible for the care and management of pigs. This includes if you are a livestock agent, a transport operator, or working on or operating a farm, depot, sale yard, feedlot or processing plant.

This code provides standards on a range of requirements for the welfare of pigs, which includes:

  • food and water
  • shelter and accommodation
  • protection from climatic extremes and predators
  • handling facilities
  • management practices
  • identification
  • transportation.
