Code of Practice for Training Dogs and Cats to Wear Electronic Collars - Victoria

Description

You may require this code if you own or work with a dog or cat that is being trained with an electronic collar. Electronic collars are used to manage unacceptable behaviour or teach obedience. The code sets out standards for training with an electronic collar. These standards are designed to protect the welfare of dogs and cats.

Compliance with this code of practice is not mandatory. However, by complying with this code you can demonstrate that you have met your legal obligations. Proving that you have complied with this code can be used as a defence against a charge of cruelty or aggravated cruelty to animals.

Please consult the responsible agency for more information and to ascertain the level of compliance (if any) that may be required.
