You will require this accreditation if you intend to drive any type of commercial passenger vehicle. A commercial passenger vehicle is a vehicle that services the commercial passenger industry, offering unbooked and booked services for hire or reward. These include:
- taxi-cabs
- general or restricted hire cars
- ride-share cars
- limousines.
You also need this accreditation to drive a bus if:
- the vehicle you drive for work is owned by an accredited bus operator, or
- you drive a 10, 11 or 12-seat (driver including) commercial mini-bus owned by a registered bus operator.
If you are currently an accredited commercial passenger driver from another state or territory in Australia or New Zealand, you can apply for mutual recognition. Mutual recognition allows a skill or training to be recognised Australia-wide and aids the application process.
