Excess Animal Permit - City of Port Phillip - Victoria

Description

You may need a permit if you intend to keep certain types of animals. Restrictions may apply based on the type of animal, how many you want to keep and the location or size of your property.

A permit may be needed if you want to keep:

  • cats
  • dogs
  • reptiles and amphibians
  • guinea pigs, mice or rats
  • rabbits
  • birds
  • chickens, roosters and other poultry
  • livestock or large animals such as pigs, horses, cattle, sheep, goats, llamas, mules, ponies and donkeys.

Eligibility requirements

If you live in a house, you may keep two dogs and two cats. One dog and one cat may be kept in a flat or unit.

NOTE: All dogs and cats aged three months and over must be registered prior to submitting your permit application.
