Hazardous Area Authority - Victoria

Description

You will require this authority if you intend to drive a vehicle with thirteen or more seats (including the driver) in proclaimed 'hazardous areas' in the Victorian Alpine regions during snow season. The following areas have been declared as hazardous:

  • Falls Creek
  • Licola Area
  • Marysville-Woods Point Road
  • Mt Buffalo
  • Mt Donna Buang
  • Mt Saint Gwinear
  • Mt Tamboritha
  • Lake Mountain
  • Mt Baw Baw
  • Mt Buller
  • Mt Hotham
  • Mt Stirling
  • Mt Torbreck

There are two types of authority:

  • Mt Hotham - this allows the holder to drive in any proclaimed hazardous area including Mt Hotham
  • defined areas other than Mt Hotham - this allows the holder to drive in any proclaimed hazardous area except Mt Hotham.

A licence defines the need to obtain recognition / certification and registration to undertake a certain business activity.

Eligibility requirements

To be eligible for this authority, you must complete a four-day training course during snow season.

Training courses are conducted by a training provider in a declared hazardous area. For more details, please view the supporting information.

31 December of the expiry year.
