Horse Trainer Licence - Victoria

Description

You will need this licence to train horses for official trials and / or races.

There are four different categories of licence:

  • Pre-trainer: provides the initial preparation of horses for further training by another person.
  • Restricted trainer: provides training of a limited number of horses for official trials and / or races. This is well-suited for owner-operators.
  • General trainer: provides training to any number of horses for official trials and / or races. This is well-suited for experienced professional trainers.
  • General A trainer: provides training to any number of horses for official trials and / or races. This is well-suited for senior professional trainers.

Eligibility requirements

To be eligible for this licence, you must:

  • have evidence of relevant experience
  • be at least eighteen years of age
  • have proper stable facilities for the housing and training of horses
  • have evidence of adequate finances to provide training services
  • be of good character
  • pass a written examination
  • submit the required forms
  • pay any prescribed fees.
