Lineworker's Licence - Victoria

Description

You may need this licence if you intend to carry out electrical linework. There are four specified classes of electrical linework that require a licence:

  • Distribution
  • Transmission
  • Rail Traction
  • Cable Joining.

A licence defines the need to obtain recognition / certification and registration to undertake a certain business activity.

Eligibility requirements

The required qualifications vary for each class of licence.

For class D:

  • completion of a 4 year contract of training as a lineworker that included at least 12 months experience in carrying out class D electrical linework
  • Certificate III in ESI-Power Systems-Distribution Overhead.

For class T:

  • completion of a 4 year contract of training as a lineworker that included at least 12 months experience in carrying out class T electrical linework
  • Certificate III in ESI-Power Systems-Transmission Overhead.

For class R:

  • completion of a 4 year contract of training as a lineworker that included at least 12 months experience in carrying out class R electrical linework
  • Certificate III in ESI-Power Systems-Rail Traction.

For class C:

  • completion of a 4 year contract of training as a lineworker that included at least 12 months experience in carrying out class C electrical linework
  • Certificate III in ESI-Power Systems-Distribution Cable Jointing.
