Local Knowledge Certificate - Victoria

Description

You require this certificate if you are the master of a commercial vessel and intend to enter or leave an area that the Safety Director has declared to need a Local Knowledge Certificate. These areas are declared in the gazette.

The minimum lengths for vessels who require this certificate are either:

  • trading vessels twelve metres or greater
  • fishing vessels thirty-five metres or greater.

Please lodge your application, fee, and any associated documents directly with the Agency. You will need to attach to your application:

  • evidence of completed training
  • evidence that you hold a current certificate of competency for the vessel you are in charge of
  • evidence that you have sufficient knowledge and experience within the port waters for which you intend the certificate to apply
  • any other documentation as required by the Agency.
