Mineral Retention Licence - Victoria

Description

You will require this licence if you intend to retain the rights to a mineral resource. This licence is only valid for the specified land. A Mineral Retention Licence is for mineral resources that are not economically viable to mine at the present time.

This licence may be renewed twice for a period not exceeding ten years. This licence extends to the sea bed and its subsoil within the territorial limits of Victorian water.

Information that is required in the application for a Mineral Prospecting Licence is as follows:

  • Name and address of applicants;
  • Contact details;
  • If the applicant is a company, then supply a list of the directors and a copy of registration of the company;
  • Area of land applied for;
  • Map of the land applied for in 1:25,000 scale;
  • Names and addresses of the owners and occupiers of that land;
  • If that land is currently covered by any other Mineral licences;
  • Term of licence required;
  • Estimated annual expenditure for the first two years of the licence and estimated total expenditure for the entire term of the licence;
  • Evidence of financial capability;
  • Qualifications of all technical advisers;
  • Details of applicants experience in mining; and
  • Details of proposed work program.
