Mixed Sports Gathering and Picnic Races Permits - Victoria

Description

You will need this permit if you intend to hold sporting or community events that involve horse, harness, pony racing or the attendance of bookmakers. Permits are only issued to non-proprietary sporting or community organisations which are raising funds for charitable purposes, or the purposes of the organisation.

Sporting, community and other non-profit organisations wishing to hold sporting or community events that involve horse racing or the attendance of bookmakers must obtain approval from the Minister.

To be eligible for this permit, you must:

  • comply with any relevant Codes of Practice
  • complete any application forms and attach any documentation as specified by the Agency
  • be a non-proprietary organisation.

Ongoing eligibility requirements

You will need to:

  • enforce and comply with the Model Bookmaking Rules for Clubs and Other Bodies holding Mixed Sports Gatherings, Athletic / Cycle Races and Club Betting Functions
  • ensure Bookmakers and Bookmakers Clerks hold current Certificates of Registration
  • comply with the relevant Codes of Practice
  • submit the required documents after the gathering.
