Operate a Children's Service - Victoria

Description

You will require this licence if you intend to operate a children's service in Victoria.

There are different types of children's services:

  • integrated service
  • limited hours (type 1 or type 2 service)
  • school holiday care service
  • short term ( type 1 or type 2 service)
  • standard service allows the holder to operate an early childhood intervention service, an occasional care service, a mobile service or a budget based service.

A licence defines the need to obtain recognition / certification and registration to undertake a certain business activity.

Eligibility requirements

To be eligible, you must:

  • be at least eighteen years old
  • have a Working with Children check
  • submit the required forms
  • pay any prescribed fees.

Ongoing eligibility requirements

The person in charge of an early childhood service must not confirm the enrolment of a child unless the child's parents have provided an immunisation status certificate about the child or be given this certificate within two months before the date of the child's first enrolment. There are some exceptions to this rule.
