An introduction agent is a person or company in the business of offering an introduction, matchmaking or dating service that aims to match or provide individuals details for personal relationships or social outings.
Anyone over the age of 18 may operate as an introduction agent, but you will need permission if you are:
- disqualified from acting as an introduction agent under the eligibility requirements
- subject to a guardianship or administration order
- a brothel licensee or approved manager.
Publishers of advertisements who publish or make available details of persons who are seeking a personal or social relationship with one or more other persons do not act as introduction agencies. This means advertising in any newspaper, magazine, or similar document, television, or radio.
An introduction agency must not use or operate on a premises that is occupied by a sex work service provider.
