Description

You will need this permit if you intend to operate an outdoor dining facility in on-street car parking bays directly outside your business, or the neighbouring business with permission.

A parklet is a car parking bay repurposed to create space for hospitality businesses to extend their trading.

Eligibility requirements

To be eligible for this permit, you must:

  • hold public liability insurance of $10 million
  • meet the location and traffic conditions as specified by Council.

A parklet may only be established in areas:

  • with a speed limit of 40km/hr or less
  • with parallel or angled parking
  • on a straight section of road where the parklet can be easily noticed by drivers
  • which have access to utility access panels or storm drains 
  • that do not encroach on any Tree Protection Zones (TPZ)
