When you apply for a road or lane closure permit, you will need to provide:

  • the exact location of requested road or lane closure
  • a reason for the closure
  • details of the date, time and period of the proposed closure
  • evidence of Police consent
  • a detailed Traffic Management Plan, prepared in accordance with relevant standards and to the satisfaction of Council
  • a VicRoads approved Memorandum of Authorisation (MOA), if conducting works on an Arterial Road
  • a Council approved Memorandum of Authorisation (MOA), if conducting works on a Council Road and if Major Traffic Control Items will be utilised, such as a speed limit reduction or temporary traffic signals
  • written notification to affected businesses/residents/public transport providers if applicable
  • notification to Emergency Services of possible detours or expected significant delays
  • current Public Liability Insurance – Certificate of Cover to the value of $10 million.

You will also need to indemnify Council against any liabilities and to meet other conditions.
