Permit to Conduct an Event on Public Land - Hobsons Bay City Council - Victoria

Description

You will need this permit if you intend to conduct an event on a road, reserve, park or other public land. Types of events that may need this permit include:

  • circuses
  • carnivals
  • festivals
  • processions
  • gatherings
  • street parties.

If your event will be held on a road, you will need to notify Victoria Police and the relevant council (for local roads) or VicRoads (for major roads and freeways).

Eligibility requirements

To be eligible for this permit you must:

 

  • submit your application six months in advance for a large scale event or two months prior for other types of events
  • hold public liability insurance of $10 million
  • have comprehensive details of infrastructure and facilities for the proposed event
  • have a waste management plan
  • provide the appropriate health and safety measures
  • provide council with any other details as required.

Please submit your application and any associated documentation to the Arts, Events and Tourism Department of Council six months prior to a large scale event or two months prior for all other events.

Additional information

If you intend to erect structures for your event, you may require other permits. A liquor licence will be required if liquor is to be consumed.
