Permit to Conduct an Event on Public Land - Surf Coast Shire Council - Victoria

Description

You will need this permit if you intend to conduct an event on a road, reserve, park or other public land. Types of events that may need this permit include:

  • circuses
  • carnivals
  • festivals
  • processions
  • gatherings
  • street parties.

If your event will be held on a road, you will need to notify Victoria Police and the relevant council (for local roads) or VicRoads (for major roads and freeways).

Please lodge your application directly with Council. You will then be advised of other permits you will need to obtain.

Approval time

Please submit at least three months in advance for smaller events and up to twelve months in advance for larger events. Applications for use of the coastal / foreshore areas must be made by mid June each year.

Additional information

If you intend to erect structures for your event, you may require other permits. A liquor licence will be required if liquor is to be consumed.
