Permit to Conduct Trading in a Public Place - Knox City Council - Victoria

Description

You will need this permit if you intend to sell goods or services in a public place. Public places are:

  • roads
  • footpaths
  • any land that is owned, occupied, maintained, or managed by a local council.

A permit will be required where goods or services are sold or offered for sale from:

  • the person
  • vehicles, caravans or trailers
  • tables, stalls or booths
  • other similar points of sale.

This includes activities such as itinerant trading and conducting door-to-door sales.

Exemptions

If you are a community groups wanting to set up roadside trading for special events such as sell Christmas trees at Christmas, you must apply for a  permit and supply public liability insurance, but are exempt from paying a fee.

Eligibility requirements

To be eligible for this permit, you must provide:

  • your COVID Safe plan
  • a copy of your public liability insurance ($20 million minimum).
  • details relating to any furniture, screens, heaters or other items proposed to be included in your activities
  • a site plan
  • written consent from neighbouring businesses
  • photographs of your proposed site
  • any other required supporting documents.

Expiry

Permit expires 31st August each year.
