Permit to Keep Animals - Victoria

Description

You will require this permit if you intend to keep more than a specified number of animals at a premises. Animals requiring this permit may include domestic animals such as cats, dogs, guinea pigs and rabbits.

This permit may also be required for unusual animals, poultry, livestock and other farm animals.

Generally, the keeping of any number of livestock is prohibited in non-rural areas unless your local council has granted you a permit.

Eligibility requirements

You will also require a noise and smell permit if the animals interferes with the reasonable comfort or convenience of any person and a wandering animals and bird permit if you intend for your animals to wander from the property where it will be normally kept.
