Permit to Keep Animals - Victoria

Description

You will require this permit if you intend to keep more than a specified number of animals at one premise. Animals requiring this permit may include domestic animals such as cats, dogs, guinea pigs and rabbits as well as poultry and livestock such as horses, cattle, sheep and goats in rural areas.

Generally, the keeping of any number of livestock is prohibited in non-rural areas unless your local council has granted you a permit.

Eligibility requirements

You will need this permit if you keep over six poultry, two dogs or more than two cats over the age of six months on any one property.
