Description

You might need a permit to burn any material or light a fire. This applies to burning in the open and burning material in an incinerator.

This permit may be required for burning on public and private land.

Other restrictions may apply in periods of high fire danger depending on your council.

A licence defines the need to obtain recognition / certification and registration to undertake a certain business activity.

Eligibility requirements

After you submit your application, an officer from the Council Fire Prevention Unit will inspect the property to ensure all conditions are understood and that they can be met.

Ongoing eligibility requirements

A separate permit from State fire authorities may be required during high fire seasons.

Duration

Duration does not exceed 12 months.
