Pest Animal Permit - Victoria

Description

You will need this permit to import, keep, sell, or release a pest animal in Victoria for the following purposes:

  • research and education
  • animal display and exhibition
  • primary production
  • limited commercial purposes.

Pest animals are non-native (introduced) species that are or could become established in the wild, and threaten the environment, human health or farms.

There are five permit types:

  • pest animal approved collections (zoo) permit
  • pest animal approved collections (animal exhibition) permit
  • pest animal research/education collections permit
  • pest animal private collections permit
  • pest animal special collections permit.

Eligibility requirements

To be eligible for this permit, you must:

  • undertake to comply with any permit conditions
  • submit the required form
  • pay the prescribed fee.

Ongoing eligibility requirements

Your permit may be subject to conditions, including:

  • sterilising the animals
  • keeping the animals securely
  • identifying the animals by implant or branding
  • limits on the number of animals you may bring into Victoria, keep, sell or release.
