Petroleum Special Access Authorisation - Victoria

Description

You will require this authorisation if you wish to carry out exploration of a specified area for petroleum. A special access authorisation does not permit the holder to drill or bore a well or give the holder any rights to the petroleum in the area.

The holder of this special access authorisation is not required to be the holder of an exploration permit, retention lease or production licence.

Eligibility requirements

To be eligible for this authorisation, you must:

  • describe and precisely identify the area in respect of which the authorisation is sought
  • describe in detail the exploration operations that you seek to carry out in that area
  • provide details of relevant technical qualifications, technical advice and financial resources available
  • pay the prescribed fees.

Please note that a tenement may be required.

Duration

Up to one year and can be extended for a further year.
