Plant Design Registration - Victoria

Description

You will need this registration if you are a manufacturer, importer, or supplier of items of plant and intend to supply certain types of plant, or alter an existing registered plant design or if you are in management or control of an item of plant that requires registration.

You can find a list of the items of plant requiring design registration here.

Manufacturers, importers, and suppliers of plant are prohibited from supplying these plant unless the design of that plant is registered. Registration may not be required if the plant design is registered in another state.

A licence defines the need to obtain recognition / certification and registration to undertake a certain business activity.

Eligibility requirements

For your design to be eligible for this registration, you must include the following information:

  • the date of the commencement and completion of the design
  • whether the design is for an alteration to existing plant
  • whether the registration is the first registration of the design of the plant
  • the intended primary use and performance capacity of the plant
  • if known by the designer, the intended manufacturer's name and address
  • the type and model number (if applicable) of the plant
  • if known by the designer, the intended fixed location of plant in the workplace
  • a description of controls, safety devices, supporting system and communication system for the plant (if applicable)
  • the hazard level of pressure equipment and the type of fluid to be used in the pressure equipment (if applicable)
  • a design verification statement that states that the design was produced in accordance with the record of published technical standards or engineering principles
  • the name, business address and qualifications of the person who produced the design verification statement, and if applicable, the name and business address of the organisation employing that design verifier
  • a representational drawing of the plant design.

Please lodge the application form, fee, and any associated documents directly with the Agency. You will need to attach any relevant representational drawings.

Vary

The Notification of Altered Plant Design must be submitted if an item of registered plant is altered to an extent which requires the plant to be subject to new measures to control risk; or in the case of normally fixed plant, relocated and requires commissioning and new measures to control risk as a result of the relocation.
