You will require this authorisation if you intend to enter and inspect any premises, other than a residential premises, occupied by the holder of a poppy cultivation or poppy processing licence.
Upon entering and inspecting a premises, an inspector must show their inspectors identification certificate.
A poppy inspector can:
- inspect, count or mark an alkaloid poppy or poppy straw
- take samples of any alkaloid poppy or poppy straw specimens for laboratory testing
- inspect any vehicle that is used for the harvesting and transport of poppy straw
- require the licence holder to produce documentation
- seize or detain poppies or poppy straw in instances where the grower or processor has not complied with regulations.
