You will need to comply with these requirements if you are the owner of a Class 1, 2 or 3 building or Class 4 part of a building constructed before 1 August 1997.
A self-contained smoke alarm must be installed in each dwelling or sole-occupancy unit in locations determined in accordance with this practice note.
This Practice Note specifies appropriate locations for the installation of self-contained smoke alarms or hard-wired smoke alarms or detection systems in certain public or shared accommodation buildings.
