Private Security Individual Licence - Victoria

Description

You will need this licence if you intend to perform any of the following private security activities:

  • investigator
  • bodyguard
  • crowd controller
  • security guard
  • private security trainer
  • security equipment installer
  • security adviser.

You may apply for a licence covering one or more of the above activities. Each of the above activities has a number of different sub-categories. Applicants must state which activities they are applying for.

A licence defines the need to obtain recognition / certification and registration to undertake a certain business activity.

Eligibility requirements

To be eligible for this licence, you must:

  • be at least 18 years old
  • be a resident of Australia or hold a visa with work rights
  • have your fingerprints be taken
  • provide certified copies of international police checks from any other country you have resided in for a period of more than 12 months over the previous 10 years since turning 16 years of age
  • not be a prohibited person
  • be a fit and proper person (this includes not having any medical condition or history with police that would hinder your employment within the industry)
  • provide 100 points of certified identification and any change of name documentation.

Depending on the nature of your application or your individual circumstances, you may be asked to provide additional information.
