You will need this permit or licence to collect protected native plants, or do works or other activities which might kill, injure or disturb protected native plants.
It is illegal to take, move, keep, trade or process protected native plants without a licence or permit.
Protected native plants are plants that are on the protected flora list (the Threatened List). There are three categories:
- plant species which are listed as threatened
- plant species that belong to communities that are listed as threatened
- plant species which are not threatened but have been declared to be protected.
A permit is not required for protected native plants harvested from private land, providing the land is not part of the native plants critical habitat and the flora is not harvested for sale. The Threatened List can be viewed on the Department's website.
