Public Transport Victoria Event Notification - Victoria

Description

You must notify Public Transport Victoria (PTV) if you intend to host an event in Melbourne or regional Victoria that if it is reasonable to expect that the event will require the deviation, delay, replacement, supplementation or cancellation of a regular public transport service.

This notification must be made in writing and must contain a description of the event and any other details required by the Head, Transport for Victoria by notice published in the Government Gazette.

Ongoing eligibility requirements

The authority may ask that a public transport plan be included. A public transport plan must include the following:

  • management of vehicular traffic
  • management of pedestrians
  • provision of public transport
  • safety of people in relation to public transport services
  • provision of access by emergency services
  • maintenance of access to event by public transport services
  • the provision of parking facilities.

A public transport plan must be submitted at least 60 days before the event.

You will need to submit your notification through the Special Events Management System (SEMS).

Approval time

You will need to notify the authority 120 or 150 days ahead of the event, depending on whether it is expected to have less or more than 10,000 attendees. Where the date of the event is determined less than 120 or 150 days before it is expected to begin, you must notify the authority as soon as is practicable.

  • days of national significance
  • commercial events
  • special events.
